What’s in a name?

What’s in a name? that which we call a rose. By any other name would smell as sweet. ~William Shakespeare/Romeo and Juliet ~

It turns out Juliet may have gotten it wrong. Researchers are finding out that names do influence what people look like. One such study showed that people who share the same name are likely to have physical attributes in common. In particular, the study found people with the same name had similarities around their eyes. This team of researchers also found that when brought into the lab and asked to label photos of people with names, participants correctly used the person’s real name 30% of the time. The take-away, maybe Juliet would have fared better with a different Romeo?
